New Non-Profit Bird Park
in Pensacola
I, Sandy Carl Kirkconnell, am writing an open letter to inform the public that I am no longer the owner of Uncle Sandy’s Macaw Bird Park at 9513 N Old Palafox ST., Pensacola, FL 32534. On January 22, 2011, I received a letter from the IRS stating that Uncle Sandy’s Macaw Bird Park is now a non-profit organization classified under section 501(c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code. This action is retroactive to March 5, 2010. All cages, birds, other equipment, and supplies related to birds at this address are owned and operated by a board of officers representing the 501 (c) 3.
I am a member of that board now. I have been authorized by the board to solicit volunteers. Anyone, whether a bird lover or not, that would like to volunteer at the park full or part time, please call or come by. The park needs a lot of help to continue being successful. Help is needed in all areas. Of course money is always needed, but help in other areas is needed as well. Anything you can donate to help the operation of the park would be appreciated. In the food department we could use any type of nuts, fruits, vegetables, Macaw food, Parrot Food, or any other type of bird food. In the cleaning department, we could use brooms, cleaning detergents and supplies (brushes, scrub pads, towels and rags). Yard and cage equipment would also be appreciated, including leaf blowers, lawn mower, rakes, shovels, hoes, hedge trimmers, chain saw, and tarps to cover cages during the winter. Nothing has to be new as long as it works or we can sell it. When you’re having your yard sales or selling at the flea market, please think of the bird park. Your donations to the park are tax deductable.
Escambia County has the equestrian center for horses, the wild Life Center, and the animal shelters. So please everyone, let’s get on the bandwagon and build this sanctuary for exotic birds. Some people are just turning these birds loose and they become food for rats, raccoons, coyotes, hawks, etc. Uncle Sandy’s Macaw Bird Park would welcome these birds as new members of the flock.
