Uncle Sandy's Macaw Bird Park -

Uncle Sandy

Sandy Carl Kirkconnell
Founder of Uncle Sandy's Macaw Bird Park

Sandy was born and raised on a little island off the coast of Honduras.  Growing up where macaws flew free he developed a deep love for these majestic animals.

Sandy is pictured here with 2 green wing macaws and a blue and gold macaw.

Later, after retiring, Sandy decided to build a large free flight where his pet macaws could enjoy flying.  Attracting the attention of neighbors, Sandy began allowing others to enjoy his beautiful companions.

Seen with them are 3 green wing macaws that were born at the park.

About the Park

Uncle Sandy's Macaw Bird Park was founded in 1998.  Opened to the public with the intention of allowing others to enjoy the wonder and beauty of these majestic birds.

Uncle Sandy's Macaw Bird park is now home and sanctuary to over 40 macaws and 20 or more other parrot species. Pheasants, Pigeons and other game birds also call the park home. Some of our residents are donated by people who want their birds to enjoy the freedom allowed birds at the park, some donated by families who could no longer care for pets that belonged to deceased family members.  Others are rescues from research laboratories or brought in by  owners uneducated to the needs of these large birds.

Uncle Sandy's Macaw Bird Park is staffed primarily by volunteers.  Donations made to the park are used to feed the birds and keep them and their home in exceptional health.
